Westport Beach House

Located on a dramatic site on the Pacific coast, this beach house provides a retreat for a large Seattle family.

To compensate for the harsh weather at the beach, the building is covered by a single, large shed roof tilted toward the water. This provides protection for the courtyard entry which doubles as an outdoor play space for children.

Unlike conventional houses, the public spaces are on the upper floor in order to take best advantage of the spectacular ocean views. On the ground floor are four bedrooms and a generous entry and playroom, which opens to the protected courtyard
